The Challenge

Omnichannel B2C and B2B operations that needed accurate, real-time QuickBooks sync

Rugged Radios serves two distinct customer segments simultaneously: direct-to-consumer buyers purchasing radios, intercoms, and communication accessories, and B2B distributors who rely on accurate inventory and order data for their own downstream fulfillment. Managing both segments on Shopify Plus while keeping QuickBooks accurate was a significant operational challenge.

Before the Webgility integration was in place, manual labor was required to keep order data, inventory, and accounting aligned across their omnichannel operation. The complexity of serving both B2C and B2B customers with different fulfillment requirements, SKU structures, and accounting treatments made manual reconciliation particularly difficult to maintain accurately.

One specific technical challenge emerged: inventory was being incorrectly pulled from Point of Sale locations within QuickBooks in certain scenarios. This required a custom solution that the standard integration did not provide out of the box.

Webgility automated Shopify Plus sync and co-developed a custom POS location fix

Webgility connected Rugged Radios' Shopify Plus operation to QuickBooks, automating real-time order data sync across both B2C and B2B channels. Order processing, inventory updates, and accounting entries now flow automatically, reducing the manual labor that had been required to keep the omnichannel operation accurate.

For the POS inventory location issue, Rugged Radios worked closely with the Webgility product team to design a custom solution. This is a level of partnership that goes beyond standard software support: Webgility's team engaged directly with the problem, built a fix, and deployed it specifically for Rugged Radios' operational context. The result is accurate inventory management that reflects the correct QuickBooks POS locations for every transaction.
